TAP Overview

What is a 'targeted' programme?
Targeted programmes, or projects are free, primarily for 'vulnerable' young people aged 9 -16 years. (These young people may be experiencing a difficult/challenging time in their life for any number of reasons). TAP projects are designed to raise self-esteem, motivation and self-confidence and to address the 'Every Child Matters' objectives. TAP projects are exciting, challenging and great fun and cater for a wide range of tastes and preferences. They include activities such as sports, the arts, multi-media, drama and dance and issues based topics.

Splash activity providers adhere to strict terms and conditions regarding health & safety, child protection and equal opportunities. All workers are cleared through the usual channels so you can be sure that your young person is in safe hands.

What do you mean by 'vulnerable' young people?
Young people who are socially deprived, live in rural isolation or where there is little provided for them in their community area. Also, young people may have found themselves in trouble or are struggling with a positive approach to life and may be experiencing a turbulent personal relationship, or perhaps find it difficult to stay in school - generally having a hard time and needing some support.

How can I get my child/client onto a TAP project?
A completed booking form will register your interest but confirmation will be given verbally by the Splash team to the person making the nomination.
All nominating parties should note that:
Splash TAP places are limited and costly.
If you have a confirmed place the responsibility lies with you to ensure the young person’s attendance.
If a young person cannot attend, Splash requires a 24 hour notice period in order to fill this place.
